ECS VIDEO SERIES: Hannah Rogers (IAGA)

Meet Hannah! A UK-based researcher captivated by the mysteries of Earth’s magnetic field. Her driving question: How can we bridge the gap between geodynamo models and measurements of the magnetic field on various timescales to understand what’s happening in Earth’s liquid outer core?

Do you want to know more about Hannah’s career?
Watch the video below:

Hannah’s work focuses on geomagnetism, combining cutting-edge geodynamo simulations with long-term field models based on measurements to unlock the secrets of Earth’s liquid outer core. Fascinated by the fact that we still don’t fully understand the processes driving our planet’s magnetic field, she integrates models of fluid motions with paleomagnetic data from rock samples.

Hannah collaborates internationally with researchers across disciplines, aiming to bring together simulations and observations to improve our understanding of how Earth’s magnetic field is generated and evolves over time. What are the best ways to run our dynamos in Earth-like ways? What can dynamos tell us about the magnetic field on long-timescales?
