Her research investigates the seismic activity of Ojos del Salado, the highest active volcano in the world. To uncover how active this volcano truly is, Louisa deployed a network of geophones and recorded passive seismic data for a month. Her findings aim to identify volcanic tremors and both high- and low-frequency earthquakes that may reveal hidden patterns of activity. This research plays a crucial role in improving our understanding of volcanic hazards in a region frequently visited by hikers and tourists, making it not only scientifically valuable but also vital for public safety.
