Her research explores key topics such as Southern Ocean circulation and carbon storage, the glacial ocean, the role of sea ice and ocean dynamics in abrupt climate changes like Dansgaard–Oeschger cycles, and the interplay between ocean circulation and the carbon cycle throughout glacial–interglacial periods. She also contributes to improving ocean models through model development, intercomparisons, and studies on the effects of increased model resolution.
